Vladimir Krainev

I am shocked by the news… I, as well as many other people, felt as if Tikhon Nikolaevich Khrennikov’s outstanding personality was immortal. Perhaps it is in these bitter moments that the awareness of his human and creative greatness comes. I’m sure that the words goodness and kindness will be spoken countless times because what he had been doing regardless of time, even overcoming and all too often being ahead of his own epoch, is amazing.

The light of his name, like eternal light coming from the Moscow windows, will always illuminate and help us throughout our life.

Vladimir Spivakov

It is hard to believe but impossible to accept (live with; deal with)… It seemed that Tikhon Nikolaevich as well as his melodies were infinitely beautiful and everlasting. He embodied the epoch, He subdued centuries, the 20th century so full of Tikhon Nikolaevich’s sunny music, arduous and gracious deeds, the century that slowly evolved into the 21st. He didn’t look round doing good, nor did he blame times for the debts, He did good without looking back, following his own heart. For Tikhon Nikolaevich was not only enormously talented but also incredibly kind. I know that his faithful friends will always gather to grieve and rejoice because his music is still with us and within us. For he is a part of our soul. Suchlike He will always remain in our hearts. May the boat float (on the waves) and never stop.

Valery Gergiev

The patriarch of the Russian music, Tikhon Khrennikov’s death brought a lot of pain to the team of the Mariinsky theatre. His works were constantly performed in our theatre over a period of many decades. They are loved by everyone from choir artists to opera prima donnas, premiers, from ensembles to prima donnas and lead dancers. Philharmonic and instrumental compositions were played by the symphony orchestra of the Mariinsky theatre. Tikhon Khrennikov’s melodic abundance is truly inexhaustible. This pure source nourished outstanding musical forms in the master’s work. It was also the source of vigour and zest for life for millions of listeners. Music will remain his main evidence of his talent as a composer and a human being.

Karen Shakhnazarov

An outstanding Soviet and Russian composer has left us, the creator of many great musical works, melodies and songs for famous movies which received nation-wide acknowledgment and love and raised more than a generation. People still love, sing and listen to them. We will always remember Tikhon Khrennikov as a full of zest, cheerful, intelligent person, the best one of the Russian culture. May he be remembered by his life-asserting music that reflect the master’s soul.

Michael Fradkov

Tikhon Khrennikov was a symbol of the Russian culture. His whole life was dedicated to music. His outstanding talent of a composer and teacher, administerial abilities and personal qualities won overall acknowledgment and authority. One cannot overestimate his contribution to the development of the Russian and international music art.

Alla Pugacheva

Tikhon Khrennikov is the image of an epoch in the Russian music life. He served his country in different, including hard, times, and we will gratefully remember him.

Alexander Tchaikovsky

Tikhon Khrennikov was like a second father to me, and I owe to him everything, but above all I owe to him that I’ve become a composer. If it had not been for him, my life would have a different course, as it would have for his other students. He lived a long and magnificent life, left unforgettable music for people, reared a huge amount of students, and his name will remain forever and ever (with us). I am doing my best to have similar organizational skills, still his virtuosity as a leader is incredible as well as his kindness and benevolence to everyone in the first place.

My whole family is with you, for us Tikhon Nikolaevich is a saint man.
